Novice Storm LL#2 played a back and forth game with the TCDMHA Rebels LL#1 that ended with both teams settling for a tie.
Both teams came well prepared and evenly matched for the game. The first period was a battle for most of the clock as both teams worked the puck up and down the ice and coming up empty at the net. But it was the Storm who drew first blood when David worked the puck through the crowd and unleashed a backhand for the score. It was Colin who was credited with the assist at 02:53 remaining on the clock to put the Storm up by one. It looked like the period would end that way, but a Rebels player made no mistake on a fast break to the net to score the equalizer with 5.3 seconds remaining on the clock.
The second period played out much the same as the first until David unleashed another sneaky backhand to return the Storm to up by one at 06:41 this time with Josh getting the assist. But 30 seconds later the pesky Rebels again tied it up which like the first forced the second period to end in a draw.
The scoring in the third included a couple of strange goals for both sides. First, David after receiving an assisting pass from Cyrus snapped a shot from the point. The Rebel’s goalie briefly made the stop but then dropped it behind the goal line to complete David’s hat trick and put the Storm up by one at 08:44. But later on in the period a mix up in front of the Storm’s net ended up with the goalie and defenseman down on the ice and a giveaway to a Rebels forechecker. But to the awe of the crowd the Rebels shot on the empty net was wide. The Rebels player found redemption as he managed to pick up the loose puck behind the net and score on the wraparound at 05:26 before Tanner could regain full control of the net. Final score Storm 3, Rebels 3.
