Novice Storm LL#2 took a close one in Shallow Lake against the Shallow Lake Lakers LL#2.
Just like the last match up between these two teams, the game was marked by tight defence, great goaltending, and a low score.
The Storm opened up the scoring in the first when Skyler managed one past the Laker’s net minder with 02:13 remaining on the clock. The only score of the second was at 04:42 when the Lakers notched the equalizer to tie it up one to one.
The teams played an excellent third with both goalies seeing minimal action from shots on net owing to the strong defensive play by both sides. As the clock was winding down to end the game, both teams seemed content that this battle was going to end in a tie. But in the dying seconds the Lakers defence mistakenly found themselves too deep in the neutral zone; Skyler snatched a pass in the gap, blew through the hole and accelerated straight to the net on a breakaway. Making no mistake, the shot was high and hard to win the game with 26.6 seconds left on the clock.
Stars of the game Patrick and Colin.
