Willy’s Contracting Novice Storm LL#2 played out a come from behind victory against the TDCHMA Rebels LL#2 to keep the perfect home record intact and extend their winning streak to five Saturday morning at the Plex.
Both teams arrived well prepared and ready to play. The first period played out scoreless until the Rebels snuck one by Tanner to notch one up on the scoreboard at 03:41. The Storm worked hard for the equalizer and the effort paid off when Storm sharp shooter Skyler found the mark at 01:45 assisted by James.
In the second period the Rebels were the only team to find the net; scoring at 07:17 to regain the lead. But the momentum changed ten seconds into the third when Skyler shocked the Rebels scoring unassisted off the opening face off. Then at 05:31 Skyler completed the hat trick by blasting in the go ahead goal and game winner on an assist by Riley.
The Rebels threw everything they had in the final five minutes to force the draw, but the Storm’s defence was too strong today allowing only one shot on net and holding off the pressure for the win. Final score Storm 3, Rebels 2.
