Saugeen Storm#1, Cason Supply / Foodland, Playoff games 3&4
Saugeen Storm#1, Cason Supply / Foodland, played playoff games 3&4 over the weekend as they were home to Storm#3 and Storm#4 at the Plex.

Storm#1 vs Storm#4

This late afternoon game started out slow for both teams as there few shots on net and the puck seemed to be in the neutral zone most of the period or just inside each team’s zone.  Even though the Storm#1 skaters were trying they just could not get the puck to the net of Storm#4 and the score remained tied at nil at the end of the period.

In the second Storm#4 managed to beat Lucas twice despite his great work in net.  The score would be 2-0 for them going into the third.

Early in the third Austin D made a great skate down the ice and scored on his team’s first shot on net to make it 2-1.  With some momentum Storm#1 started to battle a little harder but could not get the pucks on net that they needed.  Lucas continued to be great in net but with 27 seconds left in the game Storm #4 got another and the final was 3-1 for them.

Andy was awarded the Digger Award for skating hard all game and Lucas was given a round of applause for his great work in net.

Storm#1 vs Storm#3

Once again these are two great skating Storm teams going head to head.  The first period we had battles all over the ice as both teams were looking great.  The great goaltending by Lucas and Storm#3 left the period scoreless at the end of the first.

The second, as things started to pick up a Andrew carried the puck up ice and slipped one past the Storm#3’s goalie on a nifty little move to put his team up.   As the game continued the wingers, Jimmy, Jerri, Logan, Rhys and Austin B battled hard everywhere on the ice making things difficult for Storm#3.  The centers Ian and Nick were flying on their skates and really making it hard for the other team to get anything going anywhere on the ice.  Storm#1 defense, Andrew, Talan, Austin D, and Andy, were solid as well, getting the puck out of our end and keeping it in theirs.  They also carried with the puck when they had a chance but were always getting back to hold the blue line.  Nick managed a nice goal with 3:45 left in the second when he was being forced out by the defense along the boards threw the puck on net as he fell to the ice and beat the tender with a low shot.  Then the at 2:13 of the period we saw Jerri score her first Novice goal as she picked up the loose puck in the slot took a hard whack at it and put it right through Storm#3’s goalie and the team and crowd went nuts cheering for her.  There was no turning back from there for her as she continued to play a really strong game challenging every player on Storm#3 who had the puck, kept battling hard in corners and went to the net hard.

Going into the third thing were looking good and the team was excited as they were playing very well.  Storm#3 got a break at 8:37 as they managed to get around our defense and lift one past Lucas even though he was in great position in net for the shot.    As the period continued we saw some great effort by the wingers still as Austin B, Rhys, Jerri, Jimmy and Logan continued to make things hard for Storm#3.  Then in the dying seconds of the game Storm#3 pulled the goalie to add another skater but then lost possession and Nick found the net with ease but it was Andrew and Austin B earning the assist on the goal with some great battling to win the puck from Storm#3.

Great game team as everyone played hard and skated hard.  Lucas was fantastic in net making some key saves for his team. Jerri was awarded the game puck for her first Novice goal and the Digger award for her hard work all game.  Congrats Jerri, great game!!!
