Storm #1 play Consolation Final Game 1 vs Shallow Lake Lakers#1
The Consolation final began this Sunday and it is a best of 3 series, therefore the first team to win two games wins the series.  Saugeen Storm #1, Carson Supply / Foodland, came ready to play against another great team the Shallow Lake Lakers #1 at the Plex Sunday afternoon.

The puck drops and the Championship series is on.  Both teams battling and skating hard, this was going to be a great game.  Lucas was a wizard in net right off the hop as he was tested on a few shots but handled them with ease.  The Storm playing hard and skating well had several shots on net but nothing was getting by the Lakers tender.  The forwards were battling hard at getting it out of our end and keeping it in theirs.  Our defense was outstanding again as Austin D, Andy, Andrew, and Talan had a very strong start to this game holding the Lakers blueline and moving the puck out of our end and shutting down the Lakers on a rush all the while rushing with the puck when they saw the ice to do it.  Despite the great teamwork and several shots on net the score remained nil all at the end of the first.

The second began for the Storm shorthanded but that wasn’t a problem for them as Brennan wins the faceoff and takes through the neutral zone where he was met by Ian who just got out of the box to make it even strength.  Brennan carried the puck in and blasted a shot on net that left a juicy rebound while Ian was going with him just had to tap it in to put their team up 1-0 @ 9:47 or the period.  Naturally Ian was awarded the goal and Brennan the assist.  The great work never stopped here has Nick and Ian playing center were all over the ice creating chances and making rushes.  Lucas continued to make great save after save as he looked really good in net.  With all the great work the Storm put forward the score remained 1-0 at the end of the second and it was still a tight game.

The Storm Players came out flying in the third as they knew they could pull this game off with their hard work and determination.  Our Wingers Logan, Rhys, Brennan, Jerri, Austin B and Jimmy were fantastic always battling in the corner of the Lakers zone with one out from ready for pass or rebound.  They even tried a few stickhandles though the opposition and were successful.  Rhys had a break and a solid shot on net, Austin B had a great chance that went just wide, Jimmy was handling the puck all over the ice and managed a few nice shots as well.  Jerri and Logan had the puck and got through a player or two but were solid on the attack of the Lakers with the puck and working their corners down low.  All in all some great play by all the players but the most impressive part was how they all got back to help in their own end when the Lakers managed a rush.  With the game in its final minute and a battle happening on sidewall of the Lakers zone Ian got the puck loose to Brennan who skated in and fired a hard shot right through the 5 hole of the Lakers tender.  The Storm were up 2-0 with 50seconds left, Brennan with the goal and Ian returning the favour on his goal earlier with the assist. As the last 50 seconds played out it was all pressure in the Lakers zone and the buzzer went as the clock ran out the Storm players charged to hug Lucas for his shutout performance.

Great game team as you now lead the Consolation Championship series 1-0 from a great team performance.  Lucas was awarded the game puck for his First Novice Shutout!!! Congrats Lucas you were amazing in net today!!!!  Andrew was awarded the Digger Award for his solid effort all game of creating rushes and making sure he got back to shut down the Lakers in his own end.

Game 2 is Friday Night in Shallow Lake @ 6:30, see you all there.
