Storm #1, Carson Suply / Foodland, Playoffs Game#5
Storm Novice LL1, Carson Supply / Foodland,  headed off to Shallow Lake to take on the Lakers#2,  the last day of the march break.  The Storm was  a few players short as there was only 8 skaters and a goalie in their lineup but they managed to pull together as a team and put their best effort out on the ice.

Right off the opening faceoff the team was working hard to get the puck and skating very well.  Just over 3 minutes into the game Brennan took the puck off the faceoff in the Lakes zone dangled around the defenseman and the winger and as he was getting ready to put her on net the Lakers player put his stick on him and he fell flipping the puck into the Lakers net to open the scoring for the game.  As play continued Ian and Brennan were great and all over the ice supporting their wingers and defenseman and wining most of those battles.  Some great play continued for both teams and Lucas in net was making some big saves and covering up the puck to give his team rest at the whistles.  Then in the last few minutes of the first Talan took the loose puck from inside his blueline went for a tear with it, stepped over the Lakers Blueline  and let a cannon of a shot go that managed to beat the very hot Lakers goalie to put the Storm up 2-0.

The second we saw our team bear down again and some more great saves by Lucas in net as he was looking great and always in good position and always getting a whistle when he could so his team could get a short breath.  Our wingers were in short demand as we only had one on the bench to sub out at a time but Logan, Rhys, Jimmy were skating fast, winning loose pucks and taking them from the Lakers carrying the pucks and always coming off the ice with a smile as they knew they were playing very well.  Well the Lakers got one on us near the end of the period to make the score 2-1.

In the third this great game between two great teams did not disappoint anyone as it was all over the ice and both goalies making some fantastic saves.  The three defenseman we had, Talan, Andrew and Andy, had been great all game.  They all tried a few rushes with the puck, they were getting shots on net and trying to keep the Lakers away from ours.  Unfortunately just after the halfway mark in the period the Lakers would tie it up and we would be heading into OT to determine the fate of this game.

As we entered into the OT both teams wanted this game as they both played well, Lucas made a few great saves to keep his team going but just after the six minute mark all three wingers were battling along boards as the Lakers were trying to exit their zone and the Storm was trying to keep it in.  The puck squirted loose into the slot, Talan made a dash for it and threw another hard wrist shot that found the back of the net and that was the game.

Great work out there Team!!! You all worked very well together and worked your hardest and it paid off.  The whole team was awarded the Digger Award for their hard work and the coaches could not narrow it down to one player as it was a great Team effort for the “W”.
