The Storm#1, Cason Supply / Foodland, had a busy week with 3 games in 4 days
The Storm #1 had a busy week as they were guest to Storm #3 Thursday night in Southampton, Home to The Ice Dogs on Saturday in Southampton and travelled to Shallow Lake to face The Lakers#2 on Sunday afternoon.

On Thursday Night in Southampton we faced off against the Storm #3.  The last time these two Storm teams met up it ended in a 3 all tie, so this was surely going to be an exciting game to watch.  As the puck dropped for the opening faceoff both teams the teams looked great battling for the lose pucks, skating hard with the puck and each earning some decent scoring chances.  This continued until 7:19 of the first period when Nick opened the scoring for the game and put his team up 1-0.  Shortly after this the Storm#2 managed to tie it back up despite Lucas getting a good piece of the puck off the shot it flipped up over top of him and landed in the net.  However undiscouraged Storm#1 carried on, the defensemen were great at stopping the rushes of the opposing team and helping get the puck up the boards, our wingers once again were the difference in the battles and trying their luck at skating with it.  Then at 3:52 Andrew took off out of our end with the puck losing it twice as he went to the net but he never gave up and managed to burry it in the back of the net to put his team up 2-1.  This score would remain despite the solid efforts of our centermen Nick and Ian, our defensemen Austin D, Talan, Andrew, and Andy who continue to try and rush the puck when they had a chance and of course our wingers, Logan, Rhys, Jimmy, Brennan, Jerri and Austin B who were fantastic and helping get the puck out of our end and put the pressure on in theirs.  Of course we can’t forget Lucas who was great in net for his team and made some great saves and covered the puck up when his team needed it.

Great game guys as it is always exciting to play another Storm team and work real hard against your friends and classmates.  The Digger Award was handed to Austin B for his hard work all game at chasing down loose pucks and taking a chance and stickhandling while he had the space to do so, congrats Austin B!!

Saturday afternoon Storm#1 was home to the Arran-Elderslie Ice Dogs in Southampton.  Not knowing anything about this team the Storm #1 got off to a great start working hard and skating very well and Andrew put his team up very early in the game 9:34 of the first.  The Ice dogs did not give up after an early goal and continued to battle hard against the Storm#1 and the score remained 1-0 at the end of the first due to a very hot goaltender for the Ice Dogs.

The Storm#1 was not discouraged at all as they had played a lot of the game in the Ice Dogs end.  Then at 8:19 of the period it all paid off when the puck came back to the point and Talan let one of his amazing wrist shots go and she found the back of the net to put his team up 2-0.  as the period continued the Storm#1 got more confident, Rhys had a great shot on net; Jimmy had some great chances as he moved well with the puck all game. Logan and Jerri were fantastic at going to net and looking for rebounds, Brennan was a beast once again in the corners and along the boards battling for the puck.  Lucas who was moved up to the forward position played fantastic all game since he is normally plays goal or defence.   Ian was a machine on the ice really working hard in all areas of the ice and going after loose pucks taking shots on net and getting back to help his defensemen.  Austin D was trying his luck with the puck but the Ice Dog goalie was right on his game.  Despite the great efforts the score remained 2-0 at the end of the second.

As the third period started and the puck was dropped, Nick made a bold move and went for the net right after winning the faceoff and scored at 9:52 only 8 seconds into the period.  Then once more 3 seconds after that to put his team up 4-0.  The game wasn’t over yet as Andy had some space and went for a skate stickhandling beautify up the boards through the entire Ice Dog squad and managed a shot on the net.  The Storm kept coming with chance after chance but the Ice Dog goalie was playing great.  The period ended and the final 4-0 for the Storm#1.

Austin B was awarded the game puck for his first ever shutout performance and The Digger Award was passed onto Rhys who had worked real hard all game at going after loose puck going to the net and he even had a few scoring chances with shots from the slot.  Congrats to Rhys and Austin B!!

Sunday Afternoon the Storm#1 travelled to Shallow Lake to take on The Lakers#2.  This was once again the first time these teams have met up and it turned out to be quite the between two good teams.  The Storm opened up the scoring in the first at 6:12 of the period with Brennan netting his first of the year assisted by Nick.  The Storm continued to look good but so did the Lakers as they managed to tie it up at 1:43 left in the period.  The score remain 1 each going into the second.

Early in the second the Lakers managed to go up by one on the Storm#1 but Talan was doing a great job in net and making some nice stops including a beautiful glove save.  Despite his efforts and the team in front of him at 6:20 they scored again to put them up by 2.  The Defence continued to play solid as Austin D, Andy, Lucas, and Andrew worked hard moving the puck and getting back to break up plays.  Andy played a very tough game as he was bumped around quite a bit but continued to show off his confidence with the puck while stickhandling like a wizard up ice.   The wingers were solid the opposing zone as Jerri, Brennan, Rhys, Logan, Jimmy and Austin B kept putting the puck on going after it, Jimmy made some real nice moves but was not able to pull the trigger on his shot.  Ian and Nick were all over the ice trying everything to keep their team into the game.  Then at 3:49 Rhys kept the puck in the zone were Jerri moved it to Nick and he managed to beat the Lakers tender on a nice wrist shot, Nick earning the goal with Jerri and Rhys recording assists on the play.  The score was then 3-2 and the Storm look good going into the third.

Despite a solid period of play by all players, especially Talan in net.  The Lakers managed two more markers to make the final score 5-2.  Great effort by the team as they never quit and had a very solid 3 periods of play.

Brennan was awarded the Digger Award for his hard work and was also given a puck for scoring his first goal.  Good game team and hey we can win them all.

Next game in Wiarton at 6pm Monday Nov. 25
