Novice Storm LL#2 won their first match up of the season against another Saugeen Shores team Monday at the Coliseum as they outscored Novice Storm LL#1 6 to 2.
Skyler opened the scoring for LL#2 early with a by taking a feed from Sam to Colin and deking around LL#1’s netminder at 09:44. LL#2 advanced the lead to two before the end of the period, when James netted a shot from Skyler with 32 seconds left on the clock.
The defence was tight as was the goaltending in the second period as LL#1 scored the only goal of the period at 01:26 to pull within one.
LL#2 broke things open in the third starting with David taking a Skyler assist and deking out several players finally lifting it by LL#1’s netminder top shelf short side at 08:41. David scored again 1 minute and 41 seconds later by taking a solo effort end to end at 07:00. Skyler followed up with his own another unassisted goal at 04:43 to give LL#2 a four point lead. LL#1 had lots of fight left and pulled their goalie early to generate some extra offence. LL#2 showed good character in fending off the 6 skaters but the effort finally paid off and also wanting to show that they too are capable of some dazzling stick work LL#1 returned with a pretty goal at 28 seconds left on the clock. But with 17 seconds left on the clock, Skyler broke free of the crowd and scored an empty netter to end the game. Final score Storm LL#2 6, Storm LL#1 2.
