Novice Storm LL#2 opened their season against the Shallow Lake Lakers LL#1 Wednesday night at the Coliseum with a win.
The Storm opened the scoring early as defenseman Sam broke into full speed at puck drop, picked off the loose puck on the right wing and sprinted to the net surprising the Lakers 18 seconds into the game. The Lakers tied it up at 01:43 of the first period with a confounding flip shot over Tanner’s shoulder.
The Storm’s snipers were dangerous all game but the Lakers’ goalie was rock solid between the pipes stopping shot after shot. Skyler finally solved the mystery for the Storm at 03:40 in the second notching the unassisted go ahead goal, but again the Lakers forced the period to end in a tie by driving a shot between Tanner’s legs from the point as the clock wound down.
Skyler scored again for the game winner at 11:42 in the third and followed up with three more unanswered goals at 08:03, 02:01 and 00:09 for a total of five on the night. Wow Skyler! Storm wins 6 to 2.
