BDO Dunwoody Atoms Have Tough Weekend
The BDO Dunwoody Saugeen Shores Atom BB team traveled to Collingwood on Saturday to take on the Blackhawks for the third game in their series.  Even though the series was tied, The Storm was at a disadvantage as the head coach was away and they were down four players, including the goalie but who doesn’t love a challenge.

The first period was a real battle and ended in a scoreless tie.  There was more back and forth action in the second but with three minutes remaining the Storm would get the first goal.  Emma Vanhaelemeesch made a nice pass to Shawn Charlebois who beat the Collingwood goalie.  The third period belonged to the Blackhawks as they scored three goals in the third minute.  The Storm did their best battled back but was simply out of steam.  Collingwood would score two more to win 5-1.  They may not have won but The Storm played an incredible game.  Brayden Horseman, Justin Marlowe, Hunter Cannon & Cam Lightfoot created some great scoring chances and defensemen Jack Middleton, Kent Ribey and William Forsyth did a great job helping their fill-in goalie.  Much thanks to Isaac Fewster for putting on the pads.

Game four between these two teams took place Sunday at the Plex.  It was a must-win situation for the Storm so they were happy to have Ben Lalonde and Christian Doubt back in the line-up.  Both teams played hard through the first but it would end with Collingwood ahead by two.  The Blackhawks would score another two in the second and one more at the beginning of the third but The Storm didn’t give up.  They finally got on the scoreboard at the halfway point of the third as Justin Marlowe, Shawn Charlebois and Emma Vanhaelemeesch got the puck to the net and kept digging until it went in.  The Blackhawks won 5-1 and will move on in the OMHA playoffs.  The BDO Dunwoody Atom Storm will move on to the WOAA playoffs.
