BDO Dunwoody Atoms Split Opening Weekend of Playoffs
The BDO Dunwoody Saugeen Shores Atom BB Storm had a tough start to the OMHA playoffs Saturday afternoon when the Collingwood Blackhawks came to town.  With a two week break since their last game, The Storm had a hard time getting back in the groove.  The Blackhawks took the opening game of the series 8-0.  Sunday morning, it was a completely different team that showed up in Collingwood.

Just fifteen seconds into the game, Justin Marlowe gave the Storm an early lead after a pass from Kent Ribey.  A minute and a half later, Cam Lightfoot gave Saugeen Shores a two- goal lead when he burst into the Collingwood zone and found the back of the net unassisted.  However, with four minutes left in the first period, Collingwood would get on the scoreboard.

Collingwood carried the momentum into the second period with two goals in the first half of the period to take the lead.  The Storm would tie it up with just over four minutes left in the period as Jack Middleton found Brayden Horseman in the neutral zone, who would take it in and score.

The third period was back and forth.  Three minutes in Emma Vanhaelemeesch pounced on a rebound from a Justin Marlowe shot to give Saugeen Shores a one goal lead.  Collingwood tied it up on the power play one minute later.  At the half way point of the period Kent Ribey and Justin Marlowe would connect again to put the Storm ahead.  Collingwood fought hard to tie things up, eventually pulling the goalie.  Christian Doubt saw a lot of rubber in the final minutes of the game but kept the puck out of the net for a 5-4 win.  Great passing and skating from forwards Shawn Charlebois and Hunter Cannon.  Excellent work by defensemen William Forsyth and Isaac Fewster.  Much thanks to Sam Maksymyk and Euan MacKintosh for helping the Storm to victory.
