BDO Dunwoody Atom's Undefeated Weekend
It was another weekend of great action for the BDO Dunwoody Atom BB Storm.  Saturday the Storm played host to the Durham Huskies.  Durham was on the scoreboard in no time with a goal at 2:27 but the Storm answered quickly as Justin Marlowe broke out of our end and scored unassisted at 3:48.

Each team spent two minutes on the power play and Shawn Charlebois, Marlowe and Kent Ribey did some great cycling of the puck in front of the Durham goal but to no avail.  Durham was quick with a goal again as the second period got underway.  The forward line of Cam Lightfoot, Ben Lalonde and Isaac Fewster created some great opportunities, Nolan Dereski and Jack Middleton were strong on the blue line but the Storm couldn’t put one in the net in the second. Saugeen Shores came out strong in the third with Emma Vanhaelemeesch taking a shot and Wade Kewageshig working on the rebound until the net came off.  Then Marlowe got another breakaway and scored unassisted to tie the game.  Three minutes later, Middleton rushed the puck into the corner, passes it out front to Marlowe and the Storm take the lead.  With less than three minutes left in the game, Durham would tie it up.  In the dying seconds of the game, Middleton rushes into the corner again and passes it out front to Brayden Horseman who tried to get the puck up and over the goalie but couldn’t before the horn blew.  A hard-fought game ends in a 3-3 tie.

Sunday saw the Shallow Lake Lakers come to town.  There was a lot of back-and-forth action to start the game.  It looked as though the first was going to end scoreless until Ben Lalonde skated in with the puck, passed it to Cam Lightfoot who took the shot but the puck went around the boards where Isaac Fewster fought hard with two Lakers until he got it loose, went to the net and scored the first goal of the game.  The Lakers made a great shot at the beginning of the second to try and tie the score but Christian Doubt denied them with a great glove save.  Halfway through the second, the puck was turned over in the Storm end, Lalonde passed it up to Fewster who skated through the Lakers defense for his second goal of the game.  Into the third, the Lakers were persistent in trying to get on the scoreboard but defensemen William Forsyth, Nolan Dereski, Hunter Cannon and Jack Middleton did a great job of taking away any scoring chance.  The Storm even dominated on the penalty kill.  The forwards continued to create good scoring chances but the Lakers’ goalie kept the puck out of the net.  The final score was 2-0 for Saugeen Shores.  Congratulations to Christian Doubt on his second shut out of the season.
