BDO Dunwoody Atom's Sink the Sailors
There was a lot of action at the Plex Saturday afternoon with the BDO Dunwoody Atom BB Storm playing host to the Goderich Sailors.  The Storm came out strong and just short of three minutes into the game,

William Forsyth took a pass from Hunter Cannon, skated around the Goderich defense and put the puck top shelf to score the first goal.  Four minutes later in the Goderich end, the Sailors caught the Storm defense pinching and charged with the puck but Isaac Fewster hustled back to block the shot, got the puck to forward Justin Marlowe who skated to the Goderich net and put it over the goalie’s shoulder.  The final goal of the first period came with a clearing pass from defenseman Jack Middleton to Brayden Horseman who went to the net with his partner, Marlowe and kept shooting until it went in.

An early penalty to Goderich in the first minute of the second period lead to a quick goal for the Storm as Ben Lalonde got the puck out of the corner to Cam Lightfoot, whose shot is blocked but Isaac Fewster buried the rebound for his first goal of the season.  The Lalonde, Fewster, Lightfoot line were on fire as they worked together to score the Storm’s next goal as well.  Three minutes later, Goderich got caught making a change and Shawn Charlebois makes a breakaway, takes a shot & defenseman Nolan Dereski was close behind to put in the rebound.  The following faceoff was won by Justin Marlowe who quickly made his way to the net to score on his own.

There was a lot of back & forth action in the first part of the third, but at the seven minute mark, Nolan Dereski puts in the one-timer to score his second of the game.  A few minutes later, Charlebois passes back to the point and Middleton sends the puck through a defenseman’s legs & the goalie’s to score.  During the next shift, Middleton wins the battle at the Goderich blue line, passes off to Emma Vanhaelemeesch who goes around the Sailor’s defense to score the game’s final goal.  The final score was 10-0 for Saugeen Shores Storm.

Great work from Wade Kewageshig on the face-offs and great job covering from Kent Ribey. Congratulations to Christian Doubt on the shut-out.  What an excellent team effort.
