Scotiabank PeeWee AE vs Minto Mad Dogs Oct 12
The Scotiabank Peewee AE team started off to a good start Thursday October 12 as they played their first game of the season on the road. The Peewee AE team played their first league game in Harriston versus the Minto Mad Dogs Peewee AE team.  This was the first time that many of the kids got to play with each other as we didn’t have an opportunity for an exhibition game.  It was exciting for the team, coaching staff, team players and parents alike for the kids to play a game, and see what they could do.  The team arrived at the rink looking smart, dressed in collared shirts and sporting ties.

The kids came out strong and worked hard to control the puck in the first few shifts.  Looking strong and putting forth an abundance of effort the Storm managed to clinch the first goal of the game.  Scored by number 7, Brandon Embro, unassisted with 3:33 left in the first.  The score remained at 1-0 in favour of the storm until the end of the first.

The battle continued in the second.  The Minto Mad Dogs regrouped and scored just 20 seconds into the second period which tied up the game.  Battles continued and the kids worked aggressively along the boards to win the puck.  The Storm took on their first penalty of the game in the early minutes of the second period which was successfully killed off.  The action continued and the teams went end to end battling for the puck. The second period ended with 1-1 on the scoreboard.

Back on the ice and into the third period, the storm had a power play just seconds into the period, but was unable to score.   About 4 minutes later Hunter Palinsky made the game 2-1 with a quick, high wrist shot.  This was also an unassisted goal.   The Storm had another power play and Lucas Noe managed to net a beauty giving the Storm a 3-1 lead with only 5 minutes left in the third.  The assists went to Branden Lisk and Lucas Harris.   The Storm took on another penalty and created an opportunity for the Minto Mad Dogs to capitalize which they did.  Somehow the puck dropped and the Mad Dogs slammed it into the net before we knew what happened, to make the game 3-2.  With only 1:14 left on the clock the Minto Mad Dogs got another goal.  The game ended in a 3-3 tie!

Good effort was seen by all of the team members on their first game of the season!!!

Next up is against the Listowel Cyclones AE on Tuesday October 17 at 7:40pm.
