Scotiabank Peewee AE team returns from King Township Tournament
The Saugeen Shores Scotiabank Peewee AE team travelled to Nobleton to play in the King Fall Classic tournament.  The lineup for the Peewee division included teams from Millbrook, Richmond Hill, Kings own Rebellion, Orangeville, BCH , and the Saugeen Shores Storm.  The minor hockey teams were close matched and the cup victory could have gone any direction.  Unfortunately for the Storm, the Victory did not travel our direction.  Coming in on top was Richmond Hill Stars who won all of their games in the tournament.

The Storm played two games Friday afternoon, the first which was against Richmond Hill.    It was a 6-4 loss against the champions of the tournament which proves how close the competition was.  An extra penalty, simple mistake, or power play goal in either direction could have been the deciding factor with who moves on to the next round of the tournament.   The storm fought hard through this game, but wasn’t able to come out on top.

Providing the firepower for the Storm includes two goals from Chris Hoffman, one from Brandon Embro, and one from Hunter Palinsky.  For the record, all games played at this venue were 12-12-12 on the clock.

In game two, the Storm faced small town Millbrook for a 4:45pm match up Friday afternoon.  This game went sideways as the Storm only managed to clock 3 goals to the Stars 8.  Losing each period to the Millbrook team, both physically and on the scoreboard, the Storm looked defeated.  The Storm suffered multiple minor injuries but was able to regroup with a few changes to the lines in order to finish up the game.  Zack Longmire, Hunter Palinsky and Brandon Embro get a deserved goal each for the storm, with assists coming from Hunter, Ozzie with 2, Zack, Anderson, and Luke.  The boys didn’t give up, and that is the most important take away from this game.

The team headed back to the hotel for a group gathering, some eats, and some fun, after all this is why we do tournaments.

Saturday’s game would be a match up against the hosting King Rebellion team with a puck drop time at  12:15pm.  We managed to get on the ice about 15 minutes early as the tournament was a little ahead.  The Storm was pumped and ready for action.  For the record, all team members were able to play Saturdays game, and no further injuries occurred this game, although it was a rough game.  The Storm played hard, and tried to clench the win, but couldn’t.  The first goal was scored by Ozzie Alpaugh the assists were Hunter Palinsky and Lucas Noe.  The second goal was unassisted and scored by Lucas Harris.  The third goal was scored by Lucas Noe and assisted by Hunter Palinsky. Suffering a 5-3 loss against the Rebellion, the storm was sent packing.

Now into December, the Storm is getting prepared for a very busy schedule in their own loop, and look forward to some regular season play.  An additional day tourney and possible exhibition game are also in the scope.  Check your calendar, and invite family or friends out to cheer on our Peewee AE Storm team.

See you at the rink!!
