Scotiabank Peewee AE takes on Clinton Ice Dogs
The Scotiabank Peewee AE team travelled to Clinton to play BCH ICE Dogs at the Central Huron Community Centre. This was the second time that these two teams matched up this season, the first which was on home ice, and ended in a tie. The Scotiabank Peewee AE team came out strong and never eased off for the entire game. Defeating BCH by a score of 8-0 the Storm showed pride, and good sportsmanship.

The boys showed determination right off the bat, but didn’t break the ice in front of the BCH net until about five minutes into the game when Luke Noe capitalized on a pass from winger Branden Lisk and scored the first goal of the game. The score remained at 1-0 for the Storm for the remainder of the first period and part way through the second. Scoring his second, Noe netted an unassisted goal. Ozzie Alpaugh was the next in line to score. Getting his first goal this season, Alpaugh deked out the BCH goaltender and put down an unassisted goal. Brandon Embro made it 4-0 in the second which was assisted by line mates Lucas Harris on wing and Nick Embro on defense.

The Boys found an additional gear after flood and going into the third period. Just 41 seconds after puck drop, Luke Noe got his third goal of the game and first Hat Trick of the season! This was assisted by line mate Branden Lisk. Nicely done! It doesn’t end there. Forwards Hunter Palinsky, Ozzie Alpaugh, and Branden Lisk all clenched a goal during the remainder of the game. Assists for these goals were spread out amongst team members Cooper McCulloch, Brandon Embro and Zach Longmire. The scoreboard read 8-0 when it was over. Kudos to Colby Lettau for achieving his first Shut Out this season!!

Although the scoreboard tells the story of a successful game, there are a few key things that should be noted in this article. The team played, and behaved like a team should. Calling for, and passing the puck at the right time, protecting our goalie, skating hard, listening to the coaches when being called, skating hard to the bench when changing lines, staying positive, being open to pointers, or game play advice from the coaches. These are easy things to overlook, but important for the development of these boys on and off the ice. The coaches are proud of their efforts.
