BDO Dunwoody Midget Storm Win One – Lose One in WOAA League Play
On Sunday November 10th the Saugeen Shores BDO Dunwoody Midget Storm held a home game at the Plex versus the Hanover Falcons for the first match between the two teams this season.

BDO quickly got on the scoreboard a little over three minutes into the game when Charlie Wilkinson entered the Falcons end down the right side of the rink getting by the defence to move in close on the goalie and lifted the puck top shelf for a 1-0 led.  Taylor Schihl assisted on the opening goal.  The Storm extended their lead to 2-0 in the last minute of the opening frame when Steven Langendoen potted a goal, assisted by Jordan Vanhaelemeesch. The next period saw the Falcons halve the Storm lead by scoring a goal about half way through the second, before Langendoen replied on a solo effort to restore the home team’s two goal margin.  That goal seemed to open up the flood gates for the remainder of the period as the BDO Storm scored four more times to widen the lead to 7-1.  Scoring the goals over that stretch were Wilkinson, Ryan Hopcraft, Matt Shields and Vanhaelemeesch, with two assists claimed by Stephen Pilar and singles by Matt Teschke, Troy Contois, Wilkinson, Josh Caley and James Besito.  All of the second period goals except for the last one were scored during a five minute penalty assessed to the Falcons. Thirty seconds into the final period Hanover scored on the man-advantage and held Saugeen Shores off the board until there were six minutes left in the game.  Langendoen scored his hat trick goal assisted by Wilkinson at this point, and while killing of a minor penalty in the final few minutes of the game, Shields potted another goal in a solo rush to give the BDO Dunwoody Midgets a 9-2 win for goaltender Bryce Ribey. Later in the week on Thursday night the Storm traipsed on down to Wingham for an 8:15 start against the Ironmen.  The previous match between the two teams saw the home team Storm win 5-0, so hopes were up for another W to add to the win column, but Wingham had their own idea of how the game would turn out.  About three minutes into the game, the Ironmen had the man-advantage, scoring in the later stages of the power play to take a 1-0 lead.  A few minutes later the Ironmen had another power play in progress for a four minute stretch and BDO held their own against the home team, killing off the first two minutes but then almost thirty seconds into the next two minutes for the visitors to kill, Wingham scored to open up a 2-0 lead.  Thirty seconds after the Wingham goal, the Storm came back to halve the lead with Schihl scoring, assisted by Wilkinson and Langendoen. The second frame saw the Storm on their only power play of the game early in the period and they made good on it to tie the game at 2-2.  Contois found the twine after being set up by Vanhaelemeesch and Langendoen. The game stayed tied until almost four minutes into the final stretch when the Ironmen scored to retake the lead.  The visitors ran into a bad stretch after the goal where they ended up spending a lot of their energy killing off some more penalties; at one time even playing two men short for thirty seconds before going back to one left to kill.  They had just finished off killing that penalty when Wingham notched another goal with 1:30 left in the game for a 4-2 lead that held, as the Storm could not even attempt to come back, having to kill off some more penalty time with two men in the box for the last minute of the game.
