BDO Dunwoody Midgets Add Two Games to the Win Column in League Play
On Wednesday, October 30th, the BDO Dunwoody Midget Storm hockey team travelled down south to Listowel for their second match of the season against the Cyclones.  The previous week the Storm earned a 4-3 victory at home over Listowel and were looking to make it a season sweep.

The sweep didn’t look like good prospect as the Cyclones quickly got on the scoreboard before the first minute of the game was over.  The Storm got on the board halfway through the opening frame to even the score at 1-1 when Steve Langendoen scored on the power play, assisted by Jordan Vanhaelemeesch and Ryan Hopcraft. Almost four minutes into the second period BDO went ahead 2-1 on another man advantage goal, this time scored by Vanhaelemeesch, assisted by Troy Contois and Langendoen.  Listowel scored on the next puck drop to tie the game back up at 2-2.  Shortly after tying the game up Listowel had the man advantage to give the opportunity of going ahead, but Storm had other ideas, as Vanhaelemeesch teamed up with Langendoen to score a short-handed goal to regain the lead.  Two and a bit minutes later Matt Teschke notched the Storms fourth goal of the game, with Contois credited with the assist. Saugeen Shores kept the Cyclones off balance for the rest of the game by not letting the home team get many chances to score until the last thirty seconds of the third when Listowel scored to have the game end with a 4-3 win for the visitors.

On Saturday, November 2nd, the BDO Storm hosted the Mitchell Meteors at the Plex for the first meeting between the two teams this season.  The Storm opened the scoring almost two minutes into the game when Charlie Wilkinson won the face off in the visitors end, drawing the puck back to Wyatt Lablance on the point, who then fired a shot at the goal that the beat the Meteor’s goalie on the glove-hand side.  Five minutes into the game Teschke scored to give the Storm a 2-0 lead, assisted by Harrison Alvarez and James Besito. Four minutes into the second period Contois and Vanhaelemeesch teamed up to set Jake Dawson up for the third Storm goal.  A minute later Teschke potted his second goal of the game with Matt Shields assisting on the play.  Almost two minutes later, while on the power play, Teschke notched his hat-trick goal to give the Storm a commanding 5-0 lead.  Before the second period ended, Vanhaelemeesch scored when he dumped the puck onto the Mitchell net surprising the partially screened net minder and beating him for the 6-0 lead.  Langendoen and Taylor Schmidt helped set the goal up. One of the Saugeen Shores fans must have mentioned the forbidden “shut-out” word near the end of the third period, as the Meteors ruined goalie Joey Doyle’s bid for the big 0 while they were on the power play, ending the game the game with a 6-1 win for the Storm.

The Storms host Hanover in a game next Sunday, November 10th at the Plex.
