BDO Dunwoody Midget Storm Start of New Year With Win and Tie
In the second match of the season and first game of the New Year, the Storm hosted the Mount Forest Rams at the Plex on January 4th.  The home team outplayed the visitors by a wide margin in the first period, but it was the Rams who drew first blood, scoring in the first minute of the game to take a 1-0 lead.

Near the end of the period, the Storm had a 5-on-3 man-advantage and capitalized on the opportunity.  Matt Shields took the pass across from Matt Teschke and scored to tie the game up at 1-1.  Still with a man-advantage in effect Josh Caley then scored, assisted by Harrison Alvarez to give the Storm a 2-1 lead going into the second period.  The Rams picked up the pace in the second period and early in the frame scored to tie the game up at 2-2.  A few minutes later James Besito was set on a breakaway by Charlie Wilkinson and with a deke going to the backhand Besito deposited the puck into the net to restore the one goal lead for the Storm.  The third period saw the Storm carrying the play but not able to beat the Rams goaltender to widen the lead.  With almost two minutes left in the game, the Rams scored to tie the game up for the final score of 3-3.

After winning 7-3 down in Brussels in an exhibition tilt against the Crusaders, the BDO Dunwoody Storm hosted the visitors in a game of shinny at the Plex.  The game started off like it was a shinny match with six goals recorded in the first period alone.  The Storm opened up a 2-0 lead early in the game with Jordan Vanhaelemeesch scoring twice on the same shift, assisted on both by Shields with Caley assisting on the first and Wyatt Lablance on the second goal.  A few minutes later the Crusaders scored to close within a goal.  With just under six minutes left in the first period, Steve Langendoen restored the two goal lead for the Storm, assisted by Vanhaelemeesch.  A few minutes later, Blyth-Brussels netted another to close the gap to one goal again.  With 45 seconds left in the first frame Vanhaelemeesch scored once more for the hat-trick, assisted by Shields and Langendoen to give the Storm a 4-2 lead going into the second period.  The Crusaders tied the game up during the second period with and early power play goal a half-minute into the period and the second one at the 6:51 mark.  Early in the third period the Storm had the man-advantage during a four minute penalty to the Crusaders.  The BDO Dunwoody midgets used the man-advantage to score two goals, Langendoen notching his second of the game with Shields recording his fourth assist in the game.  Teschke scored on the second goal, assisted by Langendoen and Ryan Hopcraft.  A few minutes later Stephen Pilar potted the Storm’s seventh goal in the game, assisted by Langendoen and Vanhaelemeesch.  Teschke notched his second of the game with a minute left to give the BDO Dunwoody Midget Storm an 8-4 exhibition victory over the Blyth-Brussels Crusaders.
