BDO Dunwoody Midgets Post Wins Over Walkerton and Hanover
This past week the Saugeen Shores Storm Midgets played matches against the Capitals and Falcons.  The last meetings versus these teams the Storm won by a substantial margin, but this time around the opposing teams were better prepared.

On Saturday November 16th the Storm hosted the Walkerton Capitals at the Southampton Coliseum.  The opening period saw the Storm get a leg up on the Capitals by scoring in the first minute of the game, when Charlie Wilkinson’s shot found the twine, assisted by Steven Langendoen and Jordan Vanhaelemeesch.  Walkerton tied the game up in the dying seconds of the second period, but the BDO Midgets restored the one goal lead five minutes into the third period when Daniel Buerger put the puck by the Capitals goalie, with Wilkinson and Ryan Hopcroft getting helpers.  A couple of minutes later, with assistance from Buerger and Langendoen, Vanhaelemeesch potted the insurance goal for the 3-1 lead that would hold up for the remainder of the game.

On Thursday night the BDO Dunwoody Storm travelled to Hanover to play the Falcons, who played with a lot more energy than the visitors for the first ten minutes of the game.  The home team opened the scoring at the 8:32 mark.  That stirred up the Storm and three minutes later Vanhaelemeesch whipped a backhand shot above the Falcon goaltender’s glove to tie the game at 1-1.  Langendoen and James Besito assisted on the play.  About five minutes into the second frame Vanhaelemeesch potted his second marker with a high wrist shot to the glove hand side of the net, assisted by Langendoen and Jake Dawson.  In the last minute of the game, Wilkinson performed the same feat as he broke in alone from the neutral zone to give the visiting team a 3-1 lead.  Stephen Pilar assisted on the goal.  With 11:38 remaining in the game, Matt Teschke put the Storm’s fourth goal into the top of the net for the final 4-1 score.  Assisting on the goal were Langendoen and Vanhaelemeesch.

The Saugeen Shores midget’s next game was scheduled for Sunday, November 24th at 8:45 pm in Mount Forest.
