Atom Rep Storm take season opener at home against Goderich
The Unifor Atom Rep Storm scored early and never looked back as they cruised by the Goderich Sailors on Saturday afternoon.

The festive Pumpkinfest mood may have taken over the rest of the town but the Atom Rep Storm were all business in defeating Goderich by a score of 5 to 1 at the Plex for their home and regular season opener.

Skyler Pomroy opened up the scoring at 08:48 in the first with a hard shot on a nice feed from Kaya Hall and Sam Flarity.  Six minutes later Sam Flarity advanced hard down the left wing side and after faking a move to the net turned deep and slid the puck to David Parsons who was waiting in the slot to hammer the one timer home at 02:38 to go up by two.

Goderich attemped a comeback in the second and the sides traded the puck back and forth with the Storm's blueliners holding things close in a defensive battle.  But the Storm were too strong in the third as Sam Flarity broke the game open by potting a shot assisted by Kaya Hall in the upper corner for the insurance goal at 10:49.  At 05:47 James Fowler put things out of reach by tucking a Sam Kozelenko assist through the five hole.  Goderich ruined the shutout at 01:03 when an unchecked attacker was left in front of the net to pop in a rebound, but the Storm was not done as Samuel Elyea in the dying seconds fired the puck through a narrow opening to add another for the home team at 00:02.

Go Storm!
