The Unifor Atom Rep Team Win The First Two Games In The OMHA Quarter Finals
This past Sunday and Monday saw the Storm travel to Lincoln, Ontario to play the first two games in the OHMA quarter finals against the Lincoln Blades. The Storm won both games to take a 2-0 lead in the OHMA Quarter Finals against the Blades.
In the first game of the series held on Sunday the Storm got out to a three goal lead after two periods with goals from Spencer Sutter (x2) and Skyler Pomroy. Then the Blades roared back with two goals of their own early in the third. However the Storm were not done yet when Zahne Barton scored in the third to give the Storm a two goal lead. The Blades would respond with another goal late in the third but the Storm would hold on for the win because of solid goaltending from Jarret Blue. Assists in the game went to Samuel Elyea, Zahne Barton, Joey Ackert and Skyler Pomroy.
The next day would see the Storm once again score the first goal of the game after Sam Flarity found the back of the net in the first period. The hometown Blades would answer back with a goal of their own to tie the game. That would however be short lived after Skyler Pomroy scored to beat the Blades' goalie with just eleven seconds left to go in the first and regain the lead for the Storm. In the second period Skyler Pomroy would complete the hat-trick by scoring two more goals. Then in the third the Blades would score early to cut the lead to two but then Joey Ackert scored to give the Storm a three goal lead once again. The Blades would added another late in the third but after pulling their goalie with two minutes to go Skyler Pomroy would score again into an open net for her fourth goal of the game. Assists in the game went to Sam Kozelenko, Sam Flarity, Zahne Barton, Brady Moulton and Kaya Hall.
