The Unifor Atom Rep Team Win The West Grey Atom Rep Tournament
The Unifor Atom Rep Team traveled to Durham on Saturday, January 4, 2014 and came away the Champions.
Their weekend started with a game against Kincardine and the Storm prevailed 2 to 1. Spencer got the Storm on the board early in the third period to tie the game. Then the winning goal for the Storm came with just over 2 1/2 minutes left in game when Kaya found the back of the net with a big shot.
Up next was the West Lincoln team but James scored 32 seconds into the first period which started the rally and the Storm cruised to a 9 to 1 victory. The other Storm scorers were James (with the hat trick), Spencer (x2), Sam K., Nick, Kaya and Brady. With their second victory in row and the best plus minus the Storm were the #1 seed going into the Championship game against the West Grey Huskies.
In the Championship both teams exchanged goals and after 3 periods the game was tied. The Storm scorers in regulation time were Kaya and Spencer. However the game would be decided in a shoot out because neither team could score in the overtime period. Then Zahne and Spencer both scored for the Storm in the shoot out and tournament MVP Jarrett shut the door on all four West Grey shooters he faced to seal the Victory for the Storm.
