U11 Rep Storm Post a Decisive Victory in a Friendly Match Against the Junior Attack
The Saugeen Shores U11 Rep Storm, sponsored by UNIFOR had a strong showing in their Saturday afternoon exhibition game against the Owen Sound Minor Atom A Junior Attack and posted a definitive 6-1 win.  For the second game in a row Mack Smith opened the scoring with a breakaway goal at the 7-minute mark.  Owen Sound responded soon after with a goal of their own in the well-matched end-to-end play that characterized the first period.  The Storm took the lead again with one minute left in the period when Brock Harrison walked through the Attack defense and put it in the back of net.  The Storm had two excellent chances in the closing minute of play, but couldn’t capitalize, ending the period up 2-1.

The second period opened with a great scoring chance by Gordie Brady followed by several more Storm scoring attempts before Will Conley connected with Cooper Henderson for the first goal of the period.  This was followed by a smooth pullback effort by Chase Cosgrove to beat the Attack defensemen and send the puck top corner. The second period showcased the goalkeepers from both ends with

Storm net minder Kaine Myer making some key saves and the Owen Sound goalie shutting down several beautiful centering plays by the Storm offensive lines.  The final goal of the period came from Chase Cosgrove off of an offensive faceoff bringing the score to 4-1.

At four minutes into the third period Will Conley stick handled his way through two Attack defenders to put the puck on net.  Line-mate Brock Harrison was right there to clean up the rebound for the 5th Storm goal of the game.  A minute later Bradley Seaman connected with Kai Bailey for one more goal bringing the score to 6-1.  The Storm defensive lines held strong throughout the game with players like Jack Tiffin and Josh Dykstra stick handling their way out of the defensive zone to set up several Storm offensive chances.  With three minutes to go, frustration set in for Owen Sound with some chippy play and hard fought battles, but they pushed through their fatigue and pressed hard on the Storm defense to try and put more points on the board.  Their efforts were matched by the capable Storm defense and the penalty-free game ended with a 6-1 Storm victory.  Player of the game went to Liam Huber for his consistent hustle on every shift.  The exhibition win left the Storm players, coaches, and fans eager for their Home Opener against the Goderich Sailors on Sunday October 24.  Go Storm!
