U11 Rep Storm Resilient In 3-3 Draw Against Rams
The Saugeen Shores U11 Rep Storm, sponsored by UNIFOR, traveled to Mount Forest to face the Rams on Saturday afternoon and posted their first draw of the season.  In the first period Saugeen Shores spent much of their time in the Rams end and successfully killed a tripping penalty, but Rams #11 capitalized on a misplay to open the scoring late in the period.  The same Rams player then broke through and scored a breakaway goal 30 seconds later.  The Storm regrouped and Kai Bailey got a goal for the Storm on a strong drive to the net, bringing some life back to his teammates and ending the period 2-1 Rams.

After the first period, the coaches suggested some adjustments to manage #11 and the team was able to hold him scoreless for the rest of the game.  Three minutes into the second period Radek Ebenstreit went on his “never give up” drive to the net, almost losing the puck and regaining control several times before finding Will Conley alone in front of the Rams net to even the score 2-2.  The Rams responded later in the period capitalizing on a rebound off the keeper’s glove to end the period with a 3-2 lead.

The Storm continued their strong play into the third period and despite a flurry of opportunities were unable to put the puck past the towering Rams netminder for the first 13 minutes of the extended third period of play.  Then Chase Cosgrove took advantage of a slow Rams change and on a nice feed from Micah Alexander, who took a shot from the top of the circle beating the goalie glove side to ring one off the crossbar and into the net, tying the game.  The last two minutes of the game saw both teams pressing hard and Rams #11 breaking through for one last attempt in the closing seconds that was denied by Storm goaltender Kaine Myers, ending the game in a 3-3 tie.  Player of the game was awarded to Radek Ebenstreit for his “never give up” attitude the whole game. The Storm are looking forward to taking their strong play back to home ice where they will host the Listowel Cyclones on Sunday afternoon.  Go Storm!
