Missing 3 key players did little to deter the Heather's Poodle Care/ Ralph' Hiway Shoppette Bantam C girls team in another nailbiter of a game on Saturday against the Georgian Shores Bantams. Our girls came out on top again with a 3-2 victory.
Led by Sarah Underwood with 2 goals (and a penalty,for a different type of hat trick) and a single from Amber Hou, the girls posted their 5th game in a row without a loss. Three wins and 2 ties have the team playing up to the level they are capable of doing. With only 2 lines and 2 regular defence missing, Rachel Kelly and Nicki Walker dropped back on D and played a great game holding back Lightening. Savannah Brown was all over the ice, causing havoc and creating turnovers. Her line with Sarah U and Victoria Matheson applied constant pressure on the opposition. The other line of Abby Acton, Amber Hou and Amber Rowley had numerous scoring chances through out the game. The girls never trailed in this game but needed a late goal from Sarah to seal the win. A frantic finish with the goalie removed did not yield any results as the Storm held off the final minute for the win. A well deserved break is due as the girls don't play again until Jan 4th in Markdale.
