Bantam C girls get First Win!
The Heathers Poodle Care/ Ralph's Shoppette Bantam Girls earned their first win of the season in a hard fought and well played game in Southampton Monday night. The final score of 4-1 was a well deserved victory as the team has played much better than their record might indicate.
The girls "stormed" out of the gate from the first whistle and were first on the board when Savannah Brown gave them the lead. Kelly Robertson added the next goal with a rocket of a shot to the top corner. South Bruce finally got one back, but the locals were far from done. Rachel Kelly with a perfect feed from Sarah Bester (even coach Dave could have finished this play off) restored the 2 goal lead. Sarah Underwood with a burst of speed done the wing ended the scoring with a well placed shot to the low stick side. The team displayed aggressive back checking and solid team puck movement. When needed Tiff Kewagishag held the fort in goal. It was a great effort and despite the visitors chippy attitude our girls carried themselves well, we will be looking for more efforts like this as we climb back up the standings. The next game is Saturday at Wingham in the new Westcast Arena and then on Monday Dec 1st in Blyth. Let's build a winning streak.
