Home Opener
Storm Fans packed the stands to see the first game of the Atom Local League Team in Southampton on Saturday, October 26, 2013.The players skated hard all game chasing down the puck. Super defensive plays were made by #11 Paydon Ritchie , #2 Quinn “Fow-dog” Fowler and #14 “Camo” Cameron Smith. Very few Lakers got by #16 Camden Ritchie who played his defensive position like a pro. Forward power supplied by the small but mighty # 3 Ismail Sirdar and #4 Liam Kelly put pressure on the Lakers defense. Jack Bennett #15 stormed the net in the second period to score the Storm’s first goal at 2:39. Cyrus Roote #29, Aiden deVries #7 and Ethan Walsh#8 showed off some impressive offensive moves. Storm attackers didn’t let up during the third period and Brayden Kahgee #6 , assisted by Paydon Ritchie #11, popped our second goal past the Lakers goalie. In the end, our two goals were not enough to pull out the win with the final score of 7-2 for the Lakers. #1 “Krackle” Kaden Vance got a workout in net with many amazing saves. The Shallow Lake Lakers snuck a few goals by the seasoned goalie. Ryan Roote #9 and Braydyn Roote #17 both worked hard to keep the Storm team in the game. Riley McMillan #5, on the wing, played a great game attacking the net in his very first ice hockey game – EVER. The season home opener is a kick-off to the year and the Atom Local League team will have fun and bring even more energy to their game at Paisley vs. AEMHA Ice Dogs on Sunday. Submitted by Jen Fowler
