Friday Night In Chesley
It was a tight game between two well-matched teams.
The Ice Dogs opened up the scoring in the first period and the Storm answered back with a goal of their own. Braden Kahgee scored with 3 minutes left in the first period. The second period was scoreless with both teams skating hard. We entered the 3rd period with a 1:1 tie. Our defense worked hard with Paydon with an aggressive attack, Braydyn had great speed and positioning making sure to be where he was needed heading off potential break-aways. Jack played the angles cutting off to intercept the Ice Dog’s rush to the net. Camden was a rock star flipping, slapping and clearing the puck. Quinn had some great blocks using his body to hold off shots on net. Quinn fired a slap shot in the third period with 4 minutes left in the game, bringing the score to 2:1. Storm fought hard to hold onto the lead for the remaining time. Jack and Aiden both had shots on net late in the 3rd period and Ismail had a key steal to keep Storm control of the puck. Ethan covered a lot of ice this game working well with his linemates. With 6.8 seconds left in the third the Ice Dogs scored a nice goal to the top corner, the puck just escaping Krackle’s lightning-fast glove. The regulation time ended in a 2:2 tie and the game continued into sudden death overtime. Ice Dogs scored at 7:25 in OT to end the game 2:3. This final series in the Local League Consolation side progresses to Game 2 Saturday at 2:30 in Southampton…home ice for the Storm. GO STORM! Submitted by Jen Fowler
