Storm Win in Desboro!
On Wednesday, February 26th, 2014, Desboro opened up the scoring in the first period on their home ice hosting the Saugeen Shores Atom Storm. There was lots of end-to-end action and skaters covered a lot of ice.
The Storm team could taste the win when forward Aiden de Vries scored the first Storm goal 3 minutes into the second period, asssited by Brayden R and Ismail, and bringing the score to 1:1. Ismail showed great power in controlling the puck, Braden was hopping over defender’s sticks with fancy footwork, Camden was full of energy and played an amazing game. Ethan really hustled, Braydyn showed smarts and strength, Jack did a great job with stick skills and Quinn skated his heart out. Paydon saw an opening late in the 3rd period and took the shot from just inside the blue line…with full strength she fired the puck at the net….She shoots, she scores! Great team work from Braden and Ethan who assisted her goal. The Storm fans went crazy as we pulled into the lead 2:1. Kaden had to work overtime blocking some challenging shots and made the saves look easy. With 45 seconds left in the game Kaden deflected a hard shot, holding onto the lead. Aiden supported the goalie blocking a shot in the final seconds and clearing it out to shut down the attack on net. Eating a grilled cheese prior to the game seemed to pay off for de Vries!
