LL4 Maisie Trelford McNuggets played hard both days on the weekend against Shallow Lake Lakers 1 on Saturday December 21st and Shallow Lake Lakers 2 on Sunday December 22nd.
Saturday’s home game was played at the Southampton coliseum and ended in a 5-3 victory over the Shallow Lake Lakers 1 team.
Honorable mentions go to our Ap’d Tyke player Emmitt, scoring two goals during the battle Lucas, William and Liam all got one on the board as well. Rounding up the assists were William again for three, Nicholas and Sean also getting their names on the score sheet. Great work team.
As usual the game puck was handed out. Saturday’s puck went to Emmitt!!
Sunday’s game was played in Shallow Lake against the Shallow Lake Lakers 2 team. This was quite a different experience. Unfortunately the game was refereed by young teenagers and many calls made were controversial, and many calls were completely missed.
The first goal had by the Lakers 2 was completely off-side as we all witnessed from seats in the rink. One goal apparently didn’t even cross the goal line but was also counted. Numerous checks, hits and trips (yeah in Novice) were not acknowledged. Time to bulk up and hold our own if stand a chance against the Lakers 2 team in the future.
The final score was 5-3 in favour of the Shallow Lake team 2.
The Lucas and William duo got us on the board…Lucas for three goals and William getting two of the assists. One of Lucas’ goals were unassisted.
Good Sportsmanship team!! We held our heads high despite the defeat.
A 10 day stretch of no hockey awaits. It’s time to take a break and enjoy the festive holidays. Enjoy some family time and we will see everyone back at the rink on Thursday January 2nd in Southampton for practice at 6:00pm.
