Sutton Huron Shores Realty Storm Win 4 Games in 9 Days
The Saugeen Shores Sutton Huron Shores Realty Storm got through a busy time in their schedule just prior to the Christmas holidays.  The Storm played four games over nine days, and were successful in winning all 4 games.

Game #10
The first game was played on December 14th against rival Saugeen Shores #3.  The first meeting between these two teams was a great game where the Sutton Realty Storm came away with a 4-3 win.

The first period was a seesaw battle for the first five minutes but things started turning in the Sutton Realty Storm’s direction towards the end of the period.  With just under four minutes to go in the period Sean Moorehead opened the scoring with a goal for the Sutton Realty Storm.  Chad Lawerence and Malachi McKinnon would each add goals before the period ended to give the Sutton Realty Storm a 3-0 lead heading into the break.

The second period saw the Storm #3 come out looking to get back in the game, and they were rewarded with an early goal.  But Jason Legge responded with two goals on the next shift for the Sutton Realty Storm to provide his team with a 5-1 cushion.  After two periods the score was 5-2 in favour of the Sutton Realty Storm.

In the third Jason Legge picked up his hat trick goal and Chad Lawerence scored his second of the game which kicked off a great week of scoring for him.  Saugeen Shores #3 scored two goals of their own in the third period which made the final score 7-4 in favour of the Sutton Realty Storm.  Joseph Hodgkins played his first game of the season in goal and was solid all game in picking up the win.  Logan Bursey played great in his own end of the rink using his long reach to keep the opposition away from his net.

Game #11

The second game of this stretch saw the Storm travel to Wiarton to take on the Bruce Peninsula Predator #2 squad.  This was the first meeting of the season for the two teams.  The Storm opened the scoring when Hunter Palinsky scored from his defence position with assists going to Chad Lawerence and Joseph Hodgkins.  That was the only scoring of the period and the first ended with the Storm up 1-0.

Halfway through the second period the score remained 1-0.  But the last five minutes of the period saw the Storm explode for five goals and lead 6-1 as the second period ended.  The Storm would add three goals in the final period and allow just one more making the final score 9-2 in favour of the Storm.

Ella Marshall started in goal for the Storm and earned the victory for her team.  The players of the game were the defence pairing of Hunter Palinsky and Cameron Cumming, who worked well together all game keeping pucks in at the blue line and chipping in offensively as well.  Hunter ended the game with 2 goals and an assist while Cameron picked up two assists.  Charlie Marshall also played a great game and scored his first goal of the season.

Joseph Hodgkins and Sean Moorehead also picked up three points on the night.  Jason Legge, Jack Baerg, Malachi McKinnon, and Chad Lawerence also scored for the Storm.  Brodie Palinsky got an assist to round out the scoring.

Game #12

On December 21st the Sutton Realty Storm hosted Saugeen Shores #1 at the Plex in a battle for first place.  The Sutton Realty Storm came out flying and scored three quick goals to take an early lead.  Chad Lawerence scored two of the goals on great wrist shots and Jason Legge potted the other marker.  Andrew Guo replied for Saugeen Shores #1 before the period expired and the first period ended 3-1 in favour of the Sutton Realty Storm.

In the second period Hunter Palinsky continued his great play and scored a great goal to regain the Storm’s three goal advantage.  Shortly after that, Joseph Hodgkins made a beautiful feed in front of the net to Chad Lawerence who knew exactly what to do with it as he buried his hat trick goal and gave the Storm a 5-1 lead after two periods of play.

In the third period Saugeen Shores #1 came out on the attack and had numerous chances to get back in the game.  Unfortunately for them they were facing a hot goalie in Ozzie Alpaugh who made several highlight reel saves, including one save with his head, to preserve the lead.  The defence pair of Charlie and Ella Marshall also played their consistently strong positional game in front of Ozzie and led the Storm’s strong defensive showing throughout the game.  With just over a few minutes remaining Malachi McKinnon scored a nice goal to ice the game and give the Sutton Realty Storm a convincing 6-1 victory.

After the game the Sutton Realty Storm were rewarded for their hard work with a nice Christmas party hosted by Crabby Joe’s.  The Storm players would like to thank Crabby Joe’s for being a great host and also thank the Lawerence family for providing the entertainment and prizes.

Game#13

The final game on the Storm’s nine day journey was played in Paisley on the 22nd of December against the AEMHA Ice Dogs.  The Storm appeared to be in for a tough game early on as the Ice Dog goalie came to play.  He turned aside many great Storm chances in the early going and was spectacular throughout the game.

However as the game went on the Sutton Realty Storm offence kicked in and the Storm came away with a 7-1 victory.  Chad Lawerence picked up four goals to lead the offence and give him 10 goals over his last four games.  Jack Baerg also played a great game for the Storm and he picked up a big goal early in the second period.

The other two Storm goals were scored by Jason Legge, who also added an assist in playing another great game for the Storm.  Charlie Marshall, Ozzie Alpaugh, Hunter Palinsky, Joseph Hodgkins, Malachi McKinnon, and Sean Moorehead all picked up assists in the win.  The names of Brodie Palinsky and Ella Marshall weren’t on the score sheet, but both played good aggressive games for the Storm and were a big part of the team’s win.  Cameron Cumming was asked at the last minute to play goalie and responded with many great stick saves and an excellent game in goal for the Storm.

After a successful week the Sutton Huron Shores Realty Storm’s record improved to 10-1-2 on the season.
