Sutton Huron Shores Realty Storm Win WOAA North Championship
The Sutton Huron Shores Realty Storm wrapped up a great season over the weekend by sweeping their WOAA North Division championship series against Saugeen Shores rivals Maisie Trelford Storm.

Game #1
Both teams were excited to kick off the final series and compete for the league trophy.  The opening minutes of the game proved exciting and provided numerous scoring opportunities for each team.  However as the game went on the Sutton Realty Storm defence core began to dictate the play.  Offensive puck movers Sean Moorehead and Jason Legge combined with defensive stalwarts Cam Cumming and Ella Marshall to prevent the Maisie Trelford Storm from having any sustained pressure in Sutton Realty’s zone.

It was Moorehead, who played his best game of the year and was playing his first game on defence in a month, who got the game’s opening goal after a nice rush up the ice.  Fellow defenceman Jason Legge added his 50th goal of the season a few shifts later, and Jack Baerg followed that by ripping a shot into the top corner to give the Sutton Realty Storm a 3-0 lead after one period of play.

The momentum carried over into the second period and Sutton Realty Storm continued to attack the opposition net.  At the other end Logan Bursey was solid in goal and didn’t let a single shot past him in posting the shutout.  The Sutton Realty Storm skated away with a game one victory by the score of 9-0.

Jason Legged added two more goals to complete a hat trick, while Chad Lawrence picked up a hat trick of his own.  Hunter Palinsky also scored for the Storm and Ella Marshall picked up two assists in the win.

Game #2
Game #2 started the way Game #1 ended, as Sutton Realty picked up a goal on the game’s second shift when Jack Baerg banked one in off the goalie's back.  Charlie Marshall assisted on the goal.  However Maisie Trelford deserves credit for their hard work proving they would not go down without a fight.  Halfway through the opening period Brandon Embryo was able to find a loose puck in the crease and flip it home to tie the score at 1. Sean Moorehead, on a great individual effort, would score shortly after and restore Sutton Realty’s one goal lead.

Great goaltending at both ends of the ice kept the score 2-1 until late in the second period when Embro again found a loose puck in the slot and put it home evening the score and setting up a dramatic third period.

The third period was just 38 seconds old when Jason Legge took a Hunter Palinsky feed in the high slot and buried a wrist shot high into the net which gave Sutton Realty a 3-2 lead.  The rest of the period was played at a frenetic pace and resulted in many close calls for both teams.  With just under five minutes to go red hot sniper Jack Baerg banged home a rebound and gave his team some breathing room.  Chad Lawrence would add a late goal to make the final score 5-2.

Congratulations to the following Sutton Huron Shores Realty Storm players on their WOAA North championship season which ended with a 24-6-5 record: Brodie Palinsky, Ella Marshall, Ozzie Alpaugh, Charlie Marshall, Chad Lawrence, Jack Baerg, Sean Moorehead, Hunter Palinsky, Malachi McKinnon, Cam Cumming, Joseph Hodgkins, Jason Legge, Gage Cameron, and Logan Bursey.
