Sutton Huron Shores Realty Storm Push Unbeaten Streak to 5!!

The Saugeen Shores Sutton Huron Shores Realty Storm Novice team continued its run of great play last week with a win and a tie.  The Storm has pushed their unbeaten streak to 5 games, and improved their record to 4-1-1 in the process.

On Thursday November 14th the Storm had revenge on their minds as they played the Saugeen Shores #2 team who have handed them their only defeat of the season.   The team’s focus this game was on team defense and the players worked hard to achieve this goal.  Led by goaltender Ella Marshall and the strong defense of Cameron Cumming, the Storm were 5 minutes away from posting a shut-out before a few late goals found their way into the net.  However in the end the Sutton Realty Storm came away with an 8-2 victory.

The attack was led by Malachi McKinnon who scored four goals for the Storm. Chad Lawerence added two goals of his own, while Jason Legge and Joseph Hodgkins each chipped in a goal apiece.  The Palinsky brothers, Hunter and Brodie, demonstrated excellent passing skills and combined for three assists between them.

On Saturday November 16th the Storm travelled to Shallow Lake for the second straight weekend, this time to play the Lakers #1 team who entered the game undefeated.  The game proved to be an exciting one for the fans as the teams traded chances back and forth throughout the game.

It was the Storm who struck first early in the first period.  Chad Lawerence took a Brodie Palinsky pass behind the net and tried a wrap-around which was stopped by the Shallow Lake goaltender.  After the save the puck lay in the crease and Hunter Palinsky swooped in and put it home to give the Storm a 1-0 lead.

Despite many great scoring chances throughout the game, no other goals were scored until late in the third period, when Shallow Lake evened the score on a rebound goal.  Ella Marshall played excellent in goal for the Storm turning aside numerous scoring chances from the Lakers.  When the buzzer sounded the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

In addition to Ella’s great goaltending, the Storm were able to hold the Lakers to just one goal due to the strong efforts of defensemen Logan Bursey and Charlie Marshall, and the constant back-checking of forward Sean Moorehead.

This weekend the Saugeen Shores Sutton Huron Shores Realty Storm travel to Wiarton to play the Bruce Peninsula North Stars on Saturday November 23rd at 2pm.
