The Saugeen Shores Sutton Huron Shores Realty Storm Novice team won two games over the weekend posting victories over the TCDMHA Rebels and Shallow Lake Lakers #2. This improved the Storm’s record to 3-1 on the season.
On Saturday November 9th the Storm took on the TCDMHA Rebels in Southampton and came away with a shutout victory. A special congratulations to Jack Baerg, Joseph Hodgkins, Sean Moorehead, and Hunter Palinsky who all scored their first goals of the season in the win. Also scoring his first goal of the season was Brodie Palinsky, who fired in a nice wrist shot from the blue line to beat the TCDMHA goal keeper.
Ozzie Alpaugh also played a great game for the Storm, winning numerous battles along the boards and setting a good example with his strong work ethic. The coaching staff was very proud of the team’s effort as they displayed great teamwork and showed a strong willingness to pass to the open player.
On Sunday November 10th the Storm travelled to Shallow Lake to play the Lakers #2 team. The Storm were again victorious posting a 5-2 victory. Logan Bursey, who earned a shut-out the previous day in his first start of the season, was again excellent in goal making numerous big saves to help his team.
Jason Legge opened the scoring on a power play goal mid way through the first period. Malachi McKinnon made it 2-0 by ripping a shot into the net after taking a beautiful pass from Jack Baerg in the slot. Jason Legge would score again and Chad Lawerence also added 2 goals of his own to round out the scoring for the Storm.
The defence was led by Ella Marshall whose strong positional play helped keep the previously unbeaten Shallow Lake team to just two goals in the win.
The Saugeen Shores Sutton Huron Shores Realty Storm Novice team is back at it again this week with two more games. On Thursday November 14th at 5pm in Southampton, they take on the Saugeen Shores #4 team which has handed Sutton Huron Shores Realty its only loss of the season to this point. On Saturday November 16th they travel back to Shallow Lake for a 10am game to play the Shallow Lake #1 team.
