Storm Midget AE's end losing streak in Arthur Tournament
Arthur Midget Rep Tournament

Location: Arthur, ON

The Saugeen Shores Legault's Independent Grocer Storm Midget AE's travelled to Arthur on the weekend to play in the Arthur midget rep tournament.Patience was required during a two hour wait in the dressing room while a replacement Zamboni (actually an Olympia) arrived.

The first game was against the midget rep Norwich Knighthawks. Norwich opened the scoring near the end of the first period. The Storm tied the game at ones on a goal by James Besito assisted by Jacob Roote at the five minute mark of the second. In the third period, and with less than 4 minutes left to play, Norwich scored the gaming winning goal.

Game 2 saw the Saugeen Shores Legault's Independent Grocer Storm Midget AE's play the midget rep Embro Edge. Saugeen opened the scoring half way through the first period on a goal by Colton Hall assisted by Gregg McCulloch and James Besito. Embro tied the game at ones at the 3:29 mark of the second period and took the lead at the 2:20 minute mark, just a minute later. However,Saugeen stormed back and at the 1:05 mark, Justin Greig banged in a rebound of a Stephen Pilar shot from the slot. At the end of the second, the game was tied 2-2. The third period was nightmare for the Storm as the team took two questionable 10 minute misconducts for "Disputing a Call of Official" (sic) in addition to 6 minor penalties. In spite of fighting hard penalty killing, Embro managed 3 power play goals for a 5 -2 win.

Game 3 saw the Midget Storm faceoff against the midget rep Elma Logan Wildcats.Determined not to take any stupid penalties, the Storm came out quickly and took the lead at the 6:03 minute mark of the first period on a goal by James Besito assisted by Ryan Crosetta. Not even 2 minutes later Chris Gundrum found the back of the net on a point shot setup by Matt Teschke. With the Storm up 2-0 at the end of the first period, they skated to a scoreless second period and a scoreless and penalty free third period, shutting down the Wildcats with good defensive play to preserve Brodie Farrish's shutout.Ryan was named the game's first star and Brodie was named the third star in the Storm win.
