Storm drop both opening home games in OMHA Quarterfinals. Ryan Crosetta only one to solve Mooretown goaltending.

The Saugeen Shores Legault's Independent Grocer Storm Midget AE's started their OMHA quaterfinals (best 3 of 5 series) at home this weekend against Mooretown.

Game one was played Saturday afternoon at the plex. Mooretown open the scoring in the first period and added another goal in the second. The Storm could not just get any pucks to bounce their way and were down 2 goals going into the third.

The drought continued and with 2 minutes left in the game the Storm pulled their goalie for an extra skater but with 16 seconds left, Mooretown scored an emptynetter for a three to nothing win.

Game 2 was played Sunday afternoon. The Storm came out strong but the scoring drought continued. The teams skated to a scoreless first period. Mooretown opened the scoring midway through the second period. The Storm had chances but could not get the puck past the Mooretown netminder.

So the Storm started the third period down one nothing. Finally, after five straight periods without scoring, the Storm finally got on the board when Ryan Crosetta's backhand tied the game at ones. Spencer and Taylor Schihl drew assists on the goal. The Storm played hard but Mooretown scored a powerplay goal with four minutes left in the game. Again the Storm had to pull their goalie for the extra skater but could not get the bounce they needed to get the equalizer.

Both games were tough losses and the Storm have their work cutout for themselves as they travel to Mooretown next weekend.........two games down in the series.
