Scotiabank Storm Novice LL3 Finish First Overall
The Scotiabank
Storm Novice LL3 completed their end to end run atop the WOAA Novice North Division
with a 2-0 victory over the Shallow Lake Lakers. The victory in their final game of the
regular season gives the Scotiabank squad 27 points and clinches first place in
their division, with an impressive record of 13 wins, 2 losses and 1 tie.
Today’s victory was especially sweet, as the Storm lost yesterday to the same Shallow Lake team in the consolation finals of the annual Durham Huskies Novice tournament. The 8 team / 3 game tournament saw the Storm lose 3-2 in overtime to Fergus, win 5-2 against Lucknow and then lose in the consolation finals 4-1 against Shallow Lake. It was a great tournament however and all of the players had a fun filled day. Some highlights: Logan Lemke, Skyler Pomroy and Curtis Vandenbeg each earned player of the game honours, and Pomroy (who scored her first career hat-trick against Lucknow) was awarded tournament MVP for the Storm.
The Storm now look forward to the playoffs which are scheduled to start in mid-February.
