Southampton Foodland/Carson Plumbing Novices Team #1 Win In OT
Saugeen Shores Tm#1 faced off against Saugeen Shores Tm#3 Monday night in Southampton and came away with a dramatic 6 -5 win in Overtime.

This was the first of 4 games in the opening round robin series for Team #1 whereas Saugeen Shores Tm #3 already had 3 games under their belt. But once the puck dropped it was evident both teams were game ready.  It was steady play up and down the ice until Kaya Hall broke the scoreless deadlock with a goal with 2:31 left in the first period assisted by Ray Hou. Team #3 tied it up in the first minute of the second period and the action was heating up. They then went ahead at 8:20 but Spencer Sutter-Lammie brought Tm#1 even a minute later assisted by Anthony Sarauz. They went ahead once again when Ray Hou set up Spencer but the lead was short lived as Tm#3 popped one in with 19 seconds left to send the teams into the third tied at 3. It was a battle. At 6:23 of the third Team#3 took the lead and with only 2:40 remaining scored another one to go up by two and  what seemed at the time an insurmountable lead. Team #1 called a time-out, had a positive talk with their coach and pulled their goalie for an extra attacker. Off the ensuing faceoff Spencer fed Kaya Hall who broke in to notch his second of the game. Now it was nail-biting time. With their net still empty Tm#1 were in hot pursuit of the puck. Hunter Barnard kept the puck in at the blue line with 5 seconds to go and Kaya Hall took a shot with the loose puck going to Ray Hou who banged in the equalizer with .6 seconds left in regulation time. Overtime. The nail-biting wasn’t over until Spencer slid the puck under a diving goalie at the 5:56 mark for the heroic come-from-behind win.  It took a total team effort to win this overtime game especially playing without a goaltender for nearly 3 minutes.  For his hattrick which included The winner, Spencer was presented the team's Digger Award. Exciting Novice hockey. Next game Saturday 5th Mar @ 10am in Shallow Lake.
