Saugeen Shores Novice Tm#1 may have travelled through some ugly weather on Saturday morning but they played beautifully in winning 10 - 1 over the home team TCDMHA Tm#2 in Desboro.
Saugeen Shores were always dangerous when they had the puck and when they didn't, their forwards and defencemen tracked it down relentlessly, frustrating the Desboro attackers. But when they were able to mount an offensive threat, Jolina MacLean was a wall between the pipes. The only one to elude her was a screened shot that just sneaked into the open corner. Kaya Hall had a strong two-way game with 5 points including a 4-goal outburst, Ray Hou notched a hat-trick, with Spencer Sutter-Lammie, Hunter Barnard, and Blake Shields contributing one each. Additional assists were earned by Blake, Spencer and Ethan Walsh with one each and Mercedes Roote with two. Time and again Amber Gallie prevented Desboro from getting out of their own end by her strong positional play on the blue-line and defenceman Braydyn Roote just keeps getting better and more confident at handling the puck. It is only a matter of time before linemates Aiden DeVries and Ethan Walsh enjoy a break-out game. They are getting the opportunities and have become a very reliable pairing. Next game is Saturday in Tiverton at 11:30am with an Exhibition Game against the Tiverton Thunder.
