Dunlop Fuels Novice BB take on Mitchell Meteors for the second time in 2 weeks
Nov 6, 2009, Southampton.  The Dunlop Fuels Novice BB team once again decided to keep the crowd on the edge of their seats with another close game against the Mitchell Meteors.  And once again it was the Mitchell goalie who proved to be the key factor in the game as the Storm racked up twice as many shots on net as the Mitchell team.

In a repeat of  their last game against Mitchell, the Storm struck quickly and scored the first two goals.  The first goal came from Cameron Lightfoot, unassisted, in a rush down the right side followed by a break to the left through the Mitchell defense and a goal low on the left side.  The second goal was provided by Isaac Fewster who picked the puck up at centre ice and raced the Mitchell defense all the way to the goal line to score.

Mitchell came back at the end of the first period with a goal by Brendan Bouille to put the score at 2-1 (Storm) at the end of the first.

The second period was a nail biter and the Storm created some great chances.  Sam Maksymyk and Cam Lightfoot both got shots on net and Cam also showed how solidly he can defend under pressure.

The end of the second period was a scramble for the Storm as Mitchell kept the puck in the Storm’s end-zone for most of the last two minutes of the game but they did not manage to score. The score at the end of the second – 2-1 Storm.

The fury of the Storm was felt at the start of the third period with some great play by Shawn Charlebois who was putting everything he had into the game, chasing the puck down and getting a shot on goal early in the third.  Jacob Condy was back helping the defense and sacrificed himself to save a shot on net in a classic hockey move and Isaac Fewster saved a sure goal in front of the Storm net clearing the puck from the goal line.

Ben Lalonde was playing well and got through the Mitchell defense with a shot on goal followed by another breakaway, both shots were saved by the stellar Mitchell goalie.

In a quick turn of events Mitchell scored three goals in 4 minutes leaving them ahead 4-2 with seven minutes to play in the third.  The Storm dug deep and looked for a way to get back on the scoreboard.

The Storm coaches took a chance at the end of the third and pulled the goalie – Dex Wasylishyn – with three minutes left to play.  The crowd went wild as they were provided some of the most exciting hockey of the year as the Storm attacked the Mitchell net again and again.

Near the end of the third, Shawn Charlebois scored the Storm’s third goal on a breakaway, but with only eight seconds left to play the Storm came up short by one and Mitchell won the game 4-3.
