The Novice BB Storm dominated Listowel to win their home game opener but came up short with a loss to BCH. Excellent hockey was played over the weekend with each member of the Novice BB contributing to the team. The Storm moved and passed the puck well which resulted in many scoring opportunties in both games.
Saturday October 25th
Port Elgin Home Hardware/Dunlop Fuels played hosted to the
Listowel Cyclones in their season opener.
There was lots of end to end action during the first period of the
game. Trevor Donaldson intercepted the

Storm ahead by one. The Storm’s
defensive line of Kiandra Martin, Isaac Fewster, William Forsyth and Nolan
Dereski continued to be a wall against the
Cyclones. The defense was outstanding keeping the puck in Listowel’s zone and
stopping several breakaways. Both teams were scoreless in the second period. The
beginning of the third saw Donaldson win the face off and draw the puck back to
Forsyth. Forsyth fired a pass to Jack Middleton who slid the puck by
Listowel’s goalie. Seconds later Marlowe
and Maksymyk set up Cameron Lightfoot who scored his first goal of the season
flipping the puck over the goalie and finding the back of the net. The Storm’s defenseman Nolan Dereski
passed the puck up the boards to Marlowe who went top shelf to put the
Storm up by four. The Storm added three
more goals by Marlowe(2) and Donaldson (1) to dominate the third
period action. The Novices won their season opener 7-0. Tarik McKay earned his first shutout of the
season.
Sunday October 26th

to face the BCH Ice Dogs. The Ice Dogs
came on strong in the first period with
2 quick unanswered goals. Jack
Middleton answered by netting the first
goal for the Storm with the assist going to Lightfoot. Marlowe's aggressive offensive moves were rewarded with two unassisted goals in the
second to put the Storm ahead 3-2. The Storm’s defense blocked shots and skated
down the large BCH forwards until
the last minute of the second period
when BCH scored to end the second period tied 3-3. The Ice Dogs came out strong in the third scoring 3 goals within minutes.
The Storm weren’t going down without a fight. The Novices moved and passed the puck well,

with shots. With 5 minutes left in the
game Donaldson deked through several BCH players and put the puck over the goaltender's shoulder. Seconds later, Middleton set up Donaldson who scored once more to close the margin to
one. Ben Lalonde worked hard in front of the net, firing off several shots but couldn’t get it by the BCH
