ATOM L.L. #1 DEFEATS SHALLOW LAKE
The TD Canada Trust/Allan’s Fireside Grill Atom local league team skated to a 7-1 victory over the Shallow Lake Lakers this past Saturday. Carter Swanson's shot from the blue line got the Storm rolling with a goal early in the first period. Strong goaltending by Cameron Plante and solid work by the defensive lines of Swanson with Jake Olinskie and Cole McArthur with Levi Klie helped to keep the Lakers scoreless during the first period. Most notable was the clearing of the defensive zone, a game long strong point for the defensive foursome.

The second period brought action around both nets. The Storm swarmed the opponent's net numerous times with positive results. The Storm’s strength in this period was passing by all players.  Ben Gundrum opened the period with a quick goal, assisted by Bill Johnson.  One minute later the Lakers responded with a goal of their own, just managing to squeak one by the Storm's Plante.  Not to be outdone, JD Barnard got the puck to Evan Lamont who banged one in for the Storm's third goal of the game.  Later in the same period, Barnard capitalized on a nice shot on goal from Levi Klie to tap in the rebound resulting in the fourth goal of the game for the TD Canada Trust/Allan’s Fireside Grill team. On a powerplay rush, Thomas MacDonald bounced one off the post but managed to get his own rebound for the fifth goal of the game.  Summer Cameron-Nashkewa, Owen MacKenzie and Jonah Neron rounded out the forward lines and contributed to the game by keeping the puck active in the opponent's end.

The play in the third period was a copy of the previous periods. However, the scoring was by Evan Lamont. He got his second goal of the game with a nice backhand shot. He was assisted by Ben Gundrum. Lamont ended the game with a hat trick getting the Storm's seventh goal in the final minutes. Shots on goal were 33-9 for the Storm. The TD Canada Trust/Allan’s Fireside Grill team will travel to Desboro for their next game on Wednesday night, Oct. 29th.
