BDO Dunwoody Atoms split weekend games
The BDO Dunwoody Atoms continued their regular season play this past weekend hosting two games at the Plex.  In the first game on Saturday, the Storm couldn’t get it together against the Listowel Cyclones and lost by a score of 8-1.  Scoring the lone goal for the Atoms was Paul Leger on an assist by Harrison Alvarez

The Storm was looking to redeem themselves on Sunday against Mitchell.  The Atoms drew first blood when Chris Gilbert fired a shot from the blue line past the Mitchell goaltender in the opening minutes of the first period.

The game remained scoreless in the second as the Storm defence consistently shutdown Mitchell.  Chris Gilbert, Tyler Donaldson, Michael Bohnert and Jakob Greig patrolled the blue line and stopped Mitchell time and time again.  Paul Leger, Michael Fiegehen and Tristan Rajendra all had chances against the Mitchell goaltender who made some solid saves.

In the third period, Mitchell managed to score as they jabbed it in on the post.  Our boys answered back just minutes later as Eric Langridge scored on a breakaway to take the score to 2-1.  But Mitchell wasn’t giving up.  They continued to charge at the net and scored on a rebound to even the game up once again.  With under a minute to play, Brendan Morano gave the boys the insurance they needed on an assist from Harrison Alvarez to finish the game at 3-2.

Jack Flarity kept his team in the game stopping 22 of 24 shots on the net.  Next up for the Storm is an away game on Wednesday against Kincardine followed by a weekend tournament in Strathroy.
