BDO Dunwoody Atoms even series with Collingwood written by Christine Flarity
The Saugeen Shores BDO Dunwoody Atoms traveled to Collingwood on Sunday seeking revenge for a 6-3 loss 2 weeks ago at the Plex.

The Storm came out of the gate quickly in spite of only 9 skaters to Collingwood’s 13.  Three minutes into the opening period, Hayden Duplantis scored the team’s first goal on assists from Harrison Alvarez and Chris Gilbert.

The boys continued to press into the offensive zone and less than 2 minutes later, Harrison Alvarez scored off assists from Eric Langridge and Tyler Donaldson.  The momentum continued the Storm’s way, as Alvarez scored his second of the game a couple of minutes later off a nice feed from Brendan Morano.

Collingwood began to come back as they scored once near the end of the first to bring the score to 3-1.  The two teams traded goals in the second to bring the score to 4-2 heading into the third.  Michael Fiegehen made a diving pass to Tristan Rajendra for a ‘play of the day’ style goal.

Undermanned, the team seemed to slow down in the third but managed to keep Collingwood away from the win column.  The opposition scored with 5 minutes to go in the third to bring the score to 4-3 but strong defense from Michael Bonhert, Chris Gilbert and Eric Langridge helped to keep the puck out of our end.

Jack Flarity played a strong game in net, preserving the win with 3 minutes to go when he made an outstanding save on a Collingwood breakaway.

The two teams meet again this Saturday at 4:45 at the Plex for the 3rd game in the 5 game series which now stands at 1-1.  GO STORM GO!
