Collingwood Regional Silver Stick Tournament
The Atom AE team travel to Collingwood on Friday to play in the Collingwood Regional Silver Stick Tournament.

The first match up was against the Dorchester Dragons.  Back-and-forth hockey action commenced, but no goals were had by either team in the first period. Dorchester managed to get the first goal early on, at the beginning of the second period.  Just into the third period, the storm scored to tie it up. Goal Scored by Emmett Jackson and Cameron Cumming got the assist. The Storm kept the pressure on Dorchester, and managed to get the goal ahead, and also the game-winning goal with only .02 seconds left on the clock.  The game winning goal was scored by Ozzie Alpaugh, assisted by Brandon Embro and Hunter Palinsky.  Game two was against Oro Thunder.  Oro got their first goal early in the first period, and also got another goal in the second to make it 2-0.  The Storm didn't give up and scored making it 2-1.  The goal was scored by Carson Anderson and assisted by Hunter Palinsky.  continuing to battle, the Storm managed to tie up the game 2-2 ending the second period thanks to Hunter, and Carson for the assist.  Just into the third period, Oro managed to pull ahead leading the game 3-2. Again we fought back, and Carson snuck one in unassisted, tying up the game at 3-3.   Regular round robin games did not require a tie breaker, or overtime to be played.  The score remained at 3-3

The team was now done for the day and could go back to the hotel for some much deserved team fun.

On Saturday morning, the game started off a little late due to no refs.  We were the visiting team, facing the Collingwood Atom AE3.  Again, the battle was a back and forth throughout the game.  Scoring near the end of the first period, Collingwood was up 1-0.  At the start of the second period the Storm managed to tie it up.  Goal was scored by Hunter Palinsky and assisted by Lucas Harris, and Brodie Palinsky.  The score remained 1-1 through the remainder of regulation play.  This allowed the Storm to advance into the semi finals.  Facing the Storm in the semi finals was Kincardine Kinucks who we play in our regular season games.  Kincardine managed to squeeze a goal past our goal line once in each period making it 3-0 at the end of the third.  Although we tried to battle back, it wasn't enough and we suffered a 3-0 loss to Kincardine.  This put us out of the tournament, however it wasn't a total loss as the kids had one more night of fun and excitement back at the Collingwood hotel.  Better luck next time boys!
