Storm#3 Come Out on Top
Saturday afternoon we saw a great matchup of Saugeen Storm teams #3 vs #4.  Both teams came ready to play but Storm #3 came out on top with a score of 5-2.

Well Storm #4 got off to a quick start by scoring at 7:19 of the first period.  But Storm #2 kept up their great work and it was Sabra who evened up the scoring at 2:32 of the first by hammering home a great rebound opportunity.  The defence unit of Jack, Nick, Devin and Zach did a great job of keeping the puck in the opponents’ ends all the while moving it out of ours and skating with it when they had the opportunity.  Wes and Jack were playing fantastic as usual and working hard for loose pucks, helping out the D men and getting pucks on net.

In the second Storm #3 maintained their great play and Jack put his team ahead at 6:57 of the period.   The wingers kept up their great work of attacking players and getting to the loose pucks.  Brennan, Lilly, Liam, Andy and Sabra where awesome at wining battles along boards, helping to move puck out of our zone, and going to the net and looking for rebounds.  All this hard work paid off when Jack scored again at 4:05 lifting the puck into the top of the net to make it 3-1.

In the third Storm# 4 came back with another goal at 8:20 with a shot that just beat Talan to the far bottom corner of the net as he attempted a kick save.   Storm #3 kept up the aggressive play where we saw Liam, Lilly, Brennan with a few rebound opportunities but could not capitalize. We even saw Andy take off on a breakaway the fastest I have ever seen him skate with the puck.  But it was Wes who scored another for his team at 6:46 giving them the insurance goal.  But the team did not quit there and the defence kept rushing wingers kept digging the centers kept up the great work in all areas of the ice and it all paid off when Caleb scored at 1:05 to make it a final score of 5-2.

This was a great team effort and all the players played great.  Talan was awesome in net again making some real big saves for us.

This was very tough for the coaches to narrow one player down for the digger but we all agreed that Nick was fantastic and working the hardest on the ice getting into the rush, skating with the puck, getting it out of our end and keeping it in the opponents.  Great job Nick!  Congrats Team on all the hard work.
