Storm#3 vs Storm#1 in Playoff game #4
Storms#3 were guests to Storm#1 Monday night in Southampton.  This was a highly anticipated game among two great Saugeen Shores teams that have had great seasons this year.

The puck dropped and Storm#1 got off to a good start banking one off our defenseman and past Talan  in the first 15 seconds, but that didn't shake the great players on Storm #3 as they came back and got the puck in Storm#1’s end and kept it there for quite a while putting the pressure on.  We did such a good job of it Caleb scored to tie it up at 8:13, but we didn't stop there as we kept the pressure on them in their own end the entire time after that.  We did such a good job that we forced the coach of Storm#1 to call a time out at 5:05 of the first, to try and calm his players down.  This proved to be our advantage as Caleb netted one 5 seconds after the face off by just putting the puck from on net to give his team the lead as “The Hound Dog” picked up the assist.  Storm #1 came back hard with a breakaway goal right after some great play by Storm#3 in their opponents end at 4:24 of the period as the score remained tied at 2 each until the end of the period.

Second period started with Storm#3 scoring on a nice wrist shot by Jack at 5:15 but once again Storm#1 came back with another goal at 4:14 to tie it up again.  The puck was active and all players were great, Zach and Devin continued to shut down the competition as they tried to break towards Talan.  Jack, Nick, Brennan Played solid “D” and jumped up into the forward role when asked to, they really displayed some great skill as it is hard to move back and forth in the line up, but they did so with ease.  Our forwards where great as our wingers  of Sabra, Andy and “The Hound Dog” kept digging down low getting to the net as well as supporting the defense and centers on getting the puck out of our end.  The centers where all over the ice making shots moving it out of our end and getting back to help when need, this was truly great to see, but most of all always going after loose pucks.  Caleb did a great job of this and gave his team the lead again by going to the net and scooped one of the goalie’s paddle and into the net for the natural Hat Trick.  This lead did not last for too long as Storm #1 came back with 17 seconds left in the period to tie it up again but the period was not over yet as Wes moved the puck into the slot, it when by everyone but Jack on the point, who netted his second of the game on another great wrist shot 0:01 put his team up 5-4 at the end of the second.

The Third was a great period for Talan, he was perfect and stopped every shot that came at him.  The play was back and forth, and once Storm#1 got face off in our zone they pulled their goalie for the extra attacker.  “The Hound Dog” moved the puck out of our end were Wes picked it up and went right by everyone to score the empty netter with 3:01 left in the game for the insurance goal and once again “The Hound Dog” picked up the assist.  The game wasn’t over yet and you could hear it in the crowd getting louder and the players knew they were looking good but once again Wes scored at 0:50 and “The Hound Dog” managed his third assist of the game to make the final 7-4 in an epic battle of Saugeen Shores.

This was a fantastic game by all players as they all played with real grit and heart and most importantly as a team.  Every player contributed to every scoring chance and goal our team earned.  The coaches are very proud once again how well every player played and did what we have been working on as a team all year.

The Digger award was handed to Caleb as they played a fantastic two way game netting a hat trick and always coming back to help out the “D” as well as creating chances in the other teams zone.  Congrats on the big win tonight guys!!!!

Next game Wednesday night, 6pm in Southampton.
