Sunday afternoon we saw a great matchup
of two storm teams at the Plex. Although Storm#3 played a good game they fell
short to Storm#1 5-2.
Storm #1 got off to a quick jump as they
scored twice in the first 2 minutes of the game but it took them a few chances
to do so. Our defencemen Zach, Devin, Nick and Jack where fantastic it catching
Storm#1's rushing forwards and knocking the puck off their sticks, getting into
the rush and holding the blueline in Storm#1's end. We saw some great chances
throughout the game from Caleb, Jack , and Wes put we could not beat the
goaltending of Storm #1. Even the "Houndog" Liam could not capitalize
on his favourite play of catching rebounds in front of the net. Our wingers
Brennan, Andy, Sabra, Liam and Lilly worked hard along boards and in the
corners as well as we saw them all display their continued confidence of
skating with the puck when they get it.
It wasn't until the third when Jack scored at 5:28 to put us on the board with
a nice shot on net and again with his true grit and determination being down
four goals, scores again with 1.7 seconds on the clock for his team.
At the end the coaches were proud of their team as they played their game and
played hard as a team displaying all the skills we have been working on to this point. They never gave up and went out every shift working hard
and earning their chances but could not beat the Storm #1 goaltender.
Talan was a wizard in net making fantastic save after save helping his teammates
out and earned a round of applause from the players and parents after the game.
Zach was awarded The Digger Award for his great work and determination on the
ice, he continued to catch the breaking Storm#1 forwards and knocking the puck
off their sticks getting the puck out of our end and keeping it in theirs.
