Storm #3 vs Storm #4
Saugeen Storm #3 took on Saugeen Storm #4 this afternoon in a tough battle at the Plex but Storm #3 came out on top with a 5-2 victory.  Both teams looked real strong as we saw some great stickhandling and skating.

Energy was high in the room before the game as the players from Storm #3 knew they where playing against their classmates and friends this afternoon and the game got off to a quick start.  Nick was challenged early on a breakaway chance but made a sprawling save that woke his teammates up and let them know he would do whatever he could to keep his team in the game.  The scoring broke at 7:14 of the first when Andy digging away along the boards trying to get the puck out of his end punched it out of the zone where Wes picked it up in the neutral zone and had a clean breakaway.  He took a good hard shot and beat the goaltender 5 hole.  The play started to get tough as both teams fought hard for the puck but the wingers Sabra, Lilly, Brennan, Liam and Andy worked hard along the boards and down low but it was Jack who netted two goals at 2:16 and 1:47 of the period,  the second one of which he scored off his own rebound.

In the second period we continued to see some hard play as The Storm #4 wanted back into this game.  Caleb slowed them down a bit with another marker at 7:49 with a beauty shot on net.  Our defensemen kept moving the puck out of our zone with great work from Zach, Talan, Devin and Jack as well as keeping it in.  Nick made some great saves to continue to prove to his team that he would not let them down even taking one square off the head once and still tracking the puck after that as it lay in front of him.  Caleb and Wes looked great as they where digging down low and helping out in all areas of the Ice.  Andy kept up the great skating and digging and really made the defence on the other team work for the puck as he kept the pressure on and Lilly served a penalty for "Too Many Men on the Ice" for the team.

As the players worked real hard in the third period, Storm #4 came back with two quick goals early in the period.  Zach and Talan made sure they talked to Nick and let him know that it was ok and he was playing great.   The rest of the period we kept the pressure on the other team as all players went to the puck and didn’t shy away at all.  Jack netted another 4:32 of the period and that was the last goal we saw in the game as we held them off for the win despite Devins nice chance in the last 2 minutes of play.

The team did a great job of moving pucks up ice getting to the net as well as clearing pucks from in front of out own.  Nick was given the game puck for his great work in net and Andy was awarded The Digger Award as he played his best game of the season to date.     All Player probably understand the importance of the power position now and why Coach Richard wants to see it at every practice. Fantastic job team!!!
